You be the judge

I did a favor for a friend of a friend last week, and she sent me flowers as a thank-you. Nice, right? Except ......... well ...........

And here's the thing - she picked that bouquet out.

Is it just me? Because I think it's damn creepy. Not as bad as a black-silk clown painting, but in the same general league. I do not want my flowers looking back at me.

Here's a pretty flower, just to even things out:

Hollyhock, taken this morning.

So! Do you think the flower-face thing is cute? Or creepy? 'Cause I think it's just plain wrong.

Hmm, interesting. I cannot say that I think it's either, but when I look at that, I think "juvenile" or "clownish"...I guess it's the thought that counts? At least there wasn't a card attached that said "I'm keeping my eyes on you!"

This rather reminds me of a card I got from an elderly family friend, who decided that she was no longer getting birthday gifts for the adults in her life, but didn't tell any one that ahead of time. I looked forward to her gifts, they were always unique and just right and a treat. Well, this year I got a card that said some thing along the lines of 'I was going to get a birthday gift this year, but instead just decided on this card.' yes, some one actually got paid to make a birthday card that said that. I was dumbfounded, wondering why some one would send a card that stated they were going to get you some thing and then decided not to. Not to mention, it was crass and rude and tacky.

Tacky. That's a good word to describe the flowers.

She thought it was cute, and it's the thought that counts, right? Pluck out the eyes and mouth, and enjoy.

Tacky it is.

And yeah, ~~Silk, it IS the thought that counts. Sometimes I'm too snarky for my own good.

p.s. She doesn't know this blog exists. I would never have posted this if she did.

I think it's hysterical, personally. I get a kick out of those American Express commercials with all the smiley faces made from inanimate objects. Of course, I don't think humor and gratitude belong in the same floral arrangement. It's not something I would send as a thank-you gift, but of course, to each her own.

I do think it's strange and slightly spooky.
I would remove the face because the actual flower is really nice!

And your hollyhock is lovely. Love that colour!

I'm sure she meant well, but I would say creepy.
I like your flower better, very pretty.
