Freaky Friday!

I have this thing for trophies - I think they're cool. I never participated in organized sports or anything like that as a kid, so I never had any of my own. Until I bought my house, when I gave myself a trophy:

That's the ...... I don't know ....... best home-buyer trophy, or something.

So when I was running errands the other day and saw two full boxes of trophies by the side of the road, with a big ol' "free" sign on them, well .....

..... you know I snapped those thing up.

Lots of them are bowling trophies won by a woman named Dixie, which is all kinds of awesome. There's some music trophies in there, and a bunch of talent show trophies. I'm pretty sure I can guess the talent, judging by the four batons that were included in one of the boxes.

Oh! And speaking of talent, what is up with that Toddlers and Tiaras show? Do those parents NOT UNDERSTAND that the whole thing is just a money-making racket for the people running the shows? And the money they spend on the costumes and shit, well .... what about poor little precious's college tuition? I think the mommas are just trying to live through their kids, which is creepy. And the way they make up the little girls - they speed right past the dewy, fresh-faced "early twenties" look and head right for cougar country. It's gross. And why are these parents teaching these little girls that dressing like a slut and acting like a tease will make you a "winner"? *rant over*

And! On a lighter note! Today is the one year anniversary of the day I closed on the house. Happy anniversary to me! and the house! I should give myself a trophy or something. Oh wait ....

Can't believe it's a year already! Incredible. Give yourself a medal. Or trophy.

Well, winning the Miss America pageant will pay for college, but she won't need that anyway because she'll capture a super rich husband and live a life of jet-set luxury. Sheesh. Don't you understand how that works?

Congratulations to your house for capturing such a loving owner, and keeping her a year.

I like looking at trophies. I think they all tell a little story even if you don't know the person, it's like glimpsing in their lives.

I totally agree with you about the kiddos, what is wrong with kids looking like kids!
