Jillian Michaels:
The doc says knee surgery
Send a check, okay?
Seriously, my right knee feels like spaghetti. PAINFUL spaghetti. I was afraid I was going to end up shredding something, dammit.

Ow. What a way to spend the weekend. Surgery, seriously? I'm so sorry to hear that.
Naw .... I didn't actually go to the doc. Yet. But that knee sure does hurt.
Then stop shredding. This is a time to let the joints override the brain in the decision-making process. I have been trying to convince John (my husband) that maybe that 42-mile week he put in last week has something to do with him hobbling around the house like Walter Brennan this week AND MAYBE HE SHOULD DO A LITTLE LESS but he seems unable to process what his body is telling him.
But ..... but ..... how am I going to shape up if I can't exercise?
I tried doing the workout without the knee-pounding stuff, and it just seemed really too easy.
What to do?
Resistance bands? Different workout tape? (I have a pilates dvd that I can send you, but you'd have to get a dvd player.) Get in the water? Walk real fast?
As my mom says (and I hate it when she's right), you don't get out of shape in a month and you're not going to get back in shape in a month. Steady progress that you can sustain is better than going like hell and hurting yourself and then having to quit altogether.Take that for what it's worth -- I'm not a paragon of workout virtue, so I don't have any standing to preach the gospel of fitness.
Bridgett, I did tape some FitTV yesterday - a core workout and a flexibility workout - both of which look easier on the knees. Thanks for the good advice!
p.s. - I do have a DVD player, just not a DVR, so if I want to record something, it's back to the good ol' VCR. I'm not a total luddite. :)
You need to 1) stop hurting yourself! 2) go to a less intense workout for a while, till your knee heals up.
But then again, who am I to talk? I haven't exersised since last year!
