I'll bet somebody got paid big money to come up with that

So, I'm leafing through the coupon supplement of last Sunday's paper (yes, I know it's Tuesday.  These things take time), and I come across an ad for Land O'Frost ... something.

What is Land O'Frost?  Well, let's see, according to the ad, it's a brand of "Great Tasting Lunchmeat".

Really?  Lunchmeat?  Land O'Frost?

Because when I look at that name, all I can think of is freezer burn.  Of the several months-old, ice-encrusted packages of sliced ham and pastrami that are no doubt residing in the back of my freezer right now, because God knows I never clean that sucker out.

Yum ... freezer burnt pastrami ...

I think it is safe to say I will not be buying any Land O'Frost products any time soon.  If I want cold-scorched deli meat, I've already got some at home, thankyouverymuch.

Oh!  And another ill-advised product name!  "Turkey Hill" ice cream.

For some reason, when I think of "Turkey Hill", I think of a crap-encrusted hill out in a turkey pen somewhere.  I DO NOT WANT turkey crap in my ice cream.

How about you?  Any product you won't buy because the name is so ... unfortunate?

No, I won't boycott a product simply because of the name, unless the name is purposely sexist, racist, homophobic or xenophobic, advocating drunkenness or violence, etc. Then I am not boycotting the product or the name so much as refusing to give my money to nasty people who appeal to baser instincts.

For example, I've never eaten at a Hooters, and give me no crap about owls.

To refuse something simply because I personally wouldn't have chosen that name might be to miss out on something wonderful for a trivial reason.

I would certainly never buy a Chevy Caprice.

~~Silk, my entire LIFE has been built around trivial reasons.

and queen, I never even thought of that, but you are absolutely right.

I don't generally avoid things for their strange names, but something about "Challenge" Butter bothers me. Butter shouldn't be so difficult!

Blue Diamond has an almond milk called "Almond Breeze." I'm pretty sure any talk of wind and those who are lactose intolerant should be avoided.

Lastly, there's a convenience store in the midwest that my college friends and I would go out of our way to visit: Kum & Go.

Kate, I don't want to be "challenged" by anything in my fridge. Ha.

And Almond Breeze - oh my. What's that Spinal Tap song? Wait, let me think ... "Break like the Wind"! hahahahahahaaaaaaaa*snort*

I don't even wanna think about Kum & Go. That ain't right.
