Heck, the cats and I can share, right?

My neighbor L. knocked on my back door last night.

"I brought a treat over for your kitties!," she said.

"Oh, how nice!," I replied. "What is it?"

"Smoked salmon! I did some on the grill tonight, and B. and I couldn't eat it all, so I thought I'd bring the leftovers over for your kitties!"

And she handed me a foil-lined paper plate, with about a half a pound of grilled smoked salmon on it.

"Wow, L.," I said. "Are you sure you won't eat it for lunch tomorrow?"

"No, no," she said. " I want your kitties to have it!"

Man, I couldn't help myself. "Is it okay if the cats and I share?"

"Whaaaaat?," she asked. "It's just leftover salmon! But sure, sure, enjoy it with your kitties!"

Thankfully, the cats agreed to share with me. And that was some damn fine salmon.

That is a hoot, we don't make certain things as I can't rustle up someone to help us eat it all the time.

I wouldn't blame you if the kitties didn't get any :)

The local grocery store has been running a special on salmon for $3.99 a pound - one day a week.

I have been buying a half a fish, comes out to about $16 worth of salmon - then I take it over to my friend's house. He slices it up, seasons it and smokes it on his magic bbq smoker.

His wife throws on some rice in the rice cooker, and a salad, and we sit down to delicious salmon.

Then I take home the leftovers and have salmon the rest of the week (or freeze it).

Everyone wins!

fmcetc., I hear ya. I can only eat so many leftovers.

And Anon, that sounds like a great idea! You buy the food, somebody else cooks - what a plan!
