Everybody had AWESOME suggestions, and Anonymous at 2:42 led off with Pony Boy, which I think I am in love with. From what I remember of the book (The Outsiders, which I LOVED as a teenager), it fits The Cat Currently Known as Goldie well, although I should probably do a quick re-read-through of the book to see if there's any skeletons I don't remember.
Now. I know I said I was pretty much set on keeping Coby Coby, but, well ... what if I named him Sodapop? I know that in the book, Sodapop was older than Ponyboy, and here in catlandia, Goldie is a few months older than Coby (are we all confused right now?), but seriously? Ponyboy and Sodapop? How cool would that be? And please, please - I am referencing the BOOK, not the movie, of which I was not a fan. Ralph Macchio? GAH.
Okay. Help a girl out here? Ponyboy and Sodapop? Game or lame? Or maybe something else entirely ...

Both names are three syllables, so you're likely to shorten them to one or two in daily use. (My Miss Thunderfoot, a name that she chose and which fit her perfectly, and which we all loved, became just Thunder, which didn't really fit her.) So you have to consider that. Kinda like parents need to consider likely school nicknames when naming children.

I tried to make the three kittens Dill, Jem and Scout, but they just refused to go along with it. They ended up Grace (which never really fit her), Phoebe, and Dylan.
Absolutely, two syllables. Which is why The Runt became Runtski (the neighbors thought I was calling him "Rusty", and Little Girl became Girl-buh, which ... awkward.
I'm sure these guys would become Soda and Pony. Still thinking about it ...
And Dill, Jem and Scout are super triplet names.
Agree with others...I'd stick with two syllable names. They're easier to yell across the house when kitties are getting into mischief. And they will, as we all know.
I like Soda but Pony seems a bit twee to me. Probably because I've always had bratty kitties. :)
My sister always gave all her cats first and middle names. Then she could yell "EDDIE ALBERT GET OFF THAT DAMN PIANO RIGHT NOW!!!!" at three in the morning to really make an impact. It did, believe me.
One of my cats not only had a last name, it was hyphenated.

I thought about naming Orange Cat "Afton", for where he was from, but ... he doesn't look like an Afton.
I had twin kitties named Jabber and Bander...well, Jabberwock and Bandersnatch, but you know how that goes...
Jabber was always Jabber, but the Frumious Bandersnatch sometimes got called Froomy.
