I was born in 1962; you do the math. (See also: I'm too lazy to remember to update this thing regularly.) I bought my first house in the summer of 2009; I share it with four cats and with the memories of The Runt and Little Girl, who both passed away in 2011. Rocky, the cat for whom this blog was named, passed away in 2008; I miss them all. I wish I lived somewhere where the winters weren't eight months long; other than that, life is good.
Not enough info for a guess. Is that wrapping paper we're looking at? Or is it fabric? How long is it? Could it be some kind of cat toy (jam the spike into the wall)? Waddya mean "gave" - handed it to you, or left it on your doorstep? My grandbaby makes stuff sorta like that, and if you ask, it's always a magic wand.
I am now building a backstory that you have a sekrit admirer, gathered up all their courage, to leave this on your doorstep for Christmas, but didn't have enough gumption to give it to you directly.
I am assuming that it is 'wrapped' with the red and green tissue paper and ribbon and that they a) didn't have enough paper to cover it all and b) didn't want to hide the pointy bit, so that you didn't stab yourself with it accidentally
I am guessing that it is some sort of lawn decoration - hopefully something solar powered that is *shiny* and GLOWS at night
Possibly I have an unhealthy fascination with shiny glowy things!
Whatever it is, it's wrapped in tissue paper. (And my sister Texas sent it to me.) And yeah, the pointy end would indicate something that goes in the ground? But ... but ... WHAT, exactly?

Have you figured it out?

I guess we'll find out tomorrow.
And so??? What was it??
spiff was right, bridgett - it was a solar lawn ornament. A snowflake. If the sun ever shines again, maybe I'll get to see it glow.
