It's almost dark out, and I was just out in the backyard with the cats, enjoying the cool breeze, when a young four-point buck came out of the brush and into the yard. I kept talking to the cats, and he kept getting closer, and he finally ended up within twenty feet of me before finally turning back into the brush. He wasn't aggressive; he wasn't charging me, as bucks sometimes will (yeah, you can laugh about it, but it does happen); he just came really close.
And I'll tell you what, the fawns, like the one the other day, will often come quite close, and even the does will occasionally, but to have a buck come that close?
I don't know what's going on here. I am by no means a "woo-woo-supernatural" kind of person, but I had another dream last night about the house I grew up in, and now here comes another deer.
Shit. I'll laugh about this tomorrow.

The deer is obviously your totem. Your familiar. Something significant is about to happen to you, and they want you to know it's nothing to fear.
(And I'm not woo-woo, either.)
I have seen a buck charge someone. Since it happened to be someone I'm not particularly fond of, it didn't bother me in the least. But the buck did make a kind of chuffing, growling noise before he charged.
~~Silk, that's kind of a cool idea. But I am relieved to report that I saw no deer today. It was getting kind of creepy.
and Becs, hooves are sharp and antlers are ... well, antlers. I wouldn't want a buck charging me. Yikes!

In the Shenandoah NP two bucks came within five feet of me while grazing. I was rather scared, since deer can f*** one up thoroughly. Is there a deer overpopulation issue in your area? Do people feed them? Both problems exist in Brown County, IN, and the deer come real close to us.
Oh yeah, there's a big deer overpopulation problem here, although it's not because people feed them, it's because not enough people hunt anymore.
