Maybe it's just me?

First off, I'm about to get in trouble in Blogland, AGAIN, so hold on to your hats.

Okay, so there's this blogger, to whom I am not going to link here, in the hope that her fans don't find me and kill me. If you want to know who she is, email me.

ANYway, she's pretty funny and breezy, and she gets lots and lots of comments, and recently she found herself in a tight situation, money-wise.

She lost her job and her husband is leaving her, so she was going to have trouble making mortgage payments and the like until she found another job.

So she put up a paypal widget on her blog so that people could help her out until she finds another job, which looks like it's going to happen fairly quickly, as she's already had some interviews and stuff.

So people are all, like, of COURSE we'll help you, you're charming and funny and here's some money so you can make your mortgage payments and buy bread and stuff!

And now?

Now she is blogging about the bluebird house she bought, and the statue of Saint Somebody she bought for her garden, and her new teakettle that she bought, and blahblahblah.

And frankly?

I think that's lousy.

If I had donated money to her? I'd be asking for it BACK right now. I mean, it's one thing to ask for donations, but then to talk about the flippin' garden gnome you bought with the money, on the very blog on which you asked for money to begin with?

I think that stinks.

But maybe that's just me.

Back a few years ago, before Blogspot, when I was on AOL Journals, there were a lot of people who milked other bloggers. I couldn't believe how many people would fall for sob stories, and send all kinds of things - like new PCs, television sets, money. There was one woman who, I swear, LIVED ON the sympathy of others, and was absolutely shameless about it. One day I suggested that maybe losing 100 pounds, not having any more fatherless babies, and getting a job would go a long way toward helping her situation, and I was BLASTED by her supporters.

Unbelievable.

BTW - if you follow PostSecrets, the woman whose photo is often at the end ("Cassie"), about the suicide line - well, that's the photo this woman used as her profile photo. That doesn't mean it's her. She may have just liked the photo and scarfed it from some other website, but I found it interesting.

You can't believe ANYTHING you read in a blog. Some people live fantasy lives in blogs.

That is sickening that someone would do something like that. People try to help out of the goodness of their hearts and then to find out your hard earned money is being spent on junk...that would piss me off!

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one cheesed off at that woman.

Oh, and ~~Silk, I sure hope that woman stole Cassie's photo and is not really Cassie. 'Cause that would be awful. I mean, it's bad enough that someone is using her photo, but it would be worse if it was the real Cassie milking people.

and ~~Silk, I have NO IDEA what that phantom post was. I hope nobody clicked on it. I've taken it down, obv.

Maybe one of that lady's fans did it.

Oooooooh, nasty.

I would suggest that no matter how difficult things get you don't beg on your blog.

We have both been made redundant and a fairly difficult financial time of it this past couple of years, but hell! The minute I start begging on my blog will be my last because I will have lost any remaining dignity, big time!!

I hear ya, Fish. I'd go get a job at Walmart (which, evidently, this lady never even considered) before I'd beg my friends for money.

And it wasn't just that: This lady was taking the money they donated and spending it on bullsh*t.

Grrrrr!
