I was born in 1962; you do the math. (See also: I'm too lazy to remember to update this thing regularly.) I bought my first house in the summer of 2009; I share it with four cats and with the memories of The Runt and Little Girl, who both passed away in 2011. Rocky, the cat for whom this blog was named, passed away in 2008; I miss them all. I wish I lived somewhere where the winters weren't eight months long; other than that, life is good.
~~Silk, I was kind of obtuse, there. I don't know how to bring up that kind of thing without sounding like an a**hat. Which maybe automatically makes me an a**hat - I dunno.
From what I understand, computing a credit score is kinda like reading runes - there are all kinds of things that weigh differently, depending on which reporting agency is used. I used to get dinged because I'd never held (and paid) a mortgage.
I do know that the dude who did my financing said he'd only ever seen two perfect scores. Then again, maybe he was just saying that because I looked so crestfallen when he gave me the number.
Yeah, they also figure in your income and assets compared to your debts. I don't understand why, but if your debts aren't at least as high as your income and assets would support, then you get dinged. I think that's silly. My parents never borrowed, ever, not even for cars. They instead saved ahead for whatever they needed. My mother couldn't even get a credit card or open a checking account at a large bank because she had NO credit rating.

In what?
Credit score.
Oh, thanks. Congratulations. That's very good.
I haven't the faintest idea what mine is, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's lowish. I'm pretty lackadaisical about paying bills on time.

~~Silk, my folks were the same way! The only debt they ever carried was a mortgage.
