I'm back!

... From the dentist. I just HAD to go back again; I love it so much there. *cough*

Anyhow, the permanent crown is now permanently affixed, and hopefully my jaw can now start settling down. The dentist and I had a nice long chat about what's going on with my TMJD and what we can do to minimize flare-ups. Holly Jane, she was in complete agreement on the bite block and we actually gave it a go!

I'd been thinking about it for the last few days leading up to this appointment, and it seems that both the dentist and I had been taking kind of a reactive attitude; wait until there's a problem and then try to get it under control. I think, instead, we need to be more pro-active (corporate-speak; sorry) and work to keep the jaw calmed down before it goes berserker.

So! Now I have a nice new thousand-dollar *sob* crown in my head, and we'll see what happens with the jaw.

Oh! And my dentist did suggest valium to "smooth out the edges" if the pain continues; anybody have any experience with that?

Oooh! Oooh! And in other news, there was something snuffling and snarfing and pawing through the leaves outside my bedroom window at about 5:30 this morning. I walked around the house this morning and didn't see any chewed-up vegetation (like from deer), or holes in the lawn (like skunks do), so it looks like there's another mystery to solve. Paging Nancy Drew!

You know what's weird? Both cats were in the bedroom with me, and usually if they hear anything going on outside, especially at night, they're out the door like a shot, off to investigate.

But last night when the noise started? They just pricked up their ears for a minute, then went right back to sleep. Like, "Oh, THAT again."

I think they're keeping something from me.

I'm biased, but I don't think valium is a good idea.

You know, I can't figure out who is more scared of the dentist- me or my wallet, ha!

I hope the pain goes away for ya. I used to have TMJD really badly until I had a couple of teeth pulled that the dentist believed were causing me to grit my teeth and grind them.

Oh, great, Rob, now I'll never sleep again.

Then again, I should get a motion camera and set it up outside. If I DO get a pic of Bigfoot, I'll be rich!

And Ivy, thanks for stopping by! I hear ya on the wallet thing.
The dentist also suggested I could try something called Flexeril, which I guess is like a muscle relaxer - maybe I'll give that a go if things don't improve.

Ok, seems all of this talk about dentists and TMJ is beginning to rub off on me. With the cold weather setting in and making me stiff and achy every where, and a trip to get my teeth cleaned today, I was in some major discomfort. I had to stop at a health food store I was near to look for some items and there, like a lighthouse, was a display of those King Bio sprays I told you about, and yes, they had the TMJ formula. I bought it! I've taken it twice today and I'm feeling a bit better. The formula works on several issues.

Glad to hear Big Foot stayed outside and left you alone.

BNG, I'll have to make a trip to the local health food store to see if they have it.

Raccoons.

Also, my shrink gave my Valium after I'd had a bad bike accident. He said it was a muscle relaxer and he was right. When the bottle was empty, I threw it away. I felt much better for the Valium, but it did have its side effects.
