I was born in 1962; you do the math. (See also: I'm too lazy to remember to update this thing regularly.) I bought my first house in the summer of 2009; I share it with four cats and with the memories of The Runt and Little Girl, who both passed away in 2011. Rocky, the cat for whom this blog was named, passed away in 2008; I miss them all. I wish I lived somewhere where the winters weren't eight months long; other than that, life is good.
Sis is backing out of the trip. Says she's worried about ebola.
The travel agent was basing the rates on double occupancy. I don't think there's any way I'll be able to swing this, budget-wise, as a single traveler.
Ebola? Seriously? She won't feel the same way next week. She needs to say it to s few other people so she hears how stupid she sounds and she'll be back on board.
queen, the whole ebola thing is just so patently ridiculous that it's got to be a cover for something else. I think she just changed her mind on the whole trip, and is using ebola as an excuse.
Regardless, this leaves me up sh*t creek without a paddle. Dammit.
spiff, I was-am looking at February, but schedule is flexible. Budget, including airfare and five/six days at all-inclusive, reputable resort was coming in at $1,500.00. But if you know of someplace cheaper, I'd gladly consider it.
I'm not surprised she backed out. I always plan trips for one - me - and if someone else agrees to go, then great. But almost always they back out. Sounds great at first, but then "cooler heads prevail". One time a friend actually followed through (the canal trip in England, which absolutely requires a minimum of two adults to work the lock gates), but then she complained about the cost for the entire ten days (flight only, I paid the full boat rental) and drank herself silly every night.
The ebola fear isn't as silly as it sounds, actually. They clean planes only once every 60-90 days, and there's a lot of traffic between west Africa and Haiti, and then between Haiti and eastern Mexico. Ick.
~~Silk, all she had to cover was plane fare, and she still b*tched about the cost? Is she still a friend? 'Cause that would be a deal-killer, for me.
My sister lives in Dallas. I think she's got a better chance of getting ebola by walking down the street right now than by getting on a plane, but whatever. And now they're talking about a possible ebola case in Boston, so looks like we're all screwed. Bring on the BEACH!
I don't know *how* to email you! I haven't found the magic button :)
But the more I think about it, the more I think it would be a fabulous idea - drop me a line - my email is spiffikins at gmail.com - and maybe we can make this work!
