Little Girl Last Night

We were playing out in the side yard with a piece of grass.

Please excuse my dirty feet.

Exciting, huh?

I will tell you right now, it's like the weight of the damn world has been lifted off that poor cat's shoulders.

Would the New Kitty ever had worked out? Possibly. Maybe even probably. But I was becoming increasingly worried of the toll this could be taking on Little Girl. I've never seen her be afraid of another cat the way she was of New Kitty.

When I took New Kitty back to the shelter, there were only two other kittens there, and the woman I spoke with (who hugged me and gave me Kleenex, bless her) said that they had already adopted out ten kittens this month, so New Kitty will have a new home soon.

And that was one of my biggest fears - that I would wait too long before deciding it wasn't working, and by that time New Kitty would no longer be a cute adorable kitten, and, well ... kittens have a shelf life, just like milk. Once they get too big, it gets harder to find them homes.

So! New Kitty is back in the air-conditioned shelter awaiting a home where the other cats don't run away from her. Little Girl is relieved. And I ... well, I'm hanging in there.

I really like that first photo...I can almost hear her giggling.

A consideration might be an older, sedate cat - we had wonderful luck with that and it feels terrific to have saved a great animal who others overlooked because he wasn't a kitten. The best to you :-).

Kris, that may be just what Little Girl needs - an older, laid-back, lump of a cat. Thanks for the suggestion!
