I was born in 1962; you do the math. (See also: I'm too lazy to remember to update this thing regularly.) I bought my first house in the summer of 2009; I share it with four cats and with the memories of The Runt and Little Girl, who both passed away in 2011. Rocky, the cat for whom this blog was named, passed away in 2008; I miss them all. I wish I lived somewhere where the winters weren't eight months long; other than that, life is good.
Ginny, in this case, "downsized" means that my weekly hours will be cut, from 40 to 20. After a couple of days of mad scrambling, I have registered with Unemployment (I may be eligible for partial unemployment)and the local Job Bank and have started applying for jobs.
And I will tell you what, if you think applying for jobs sucked in the old days, the on-line job application process is a brand new fresh hell. But I'll get through it.
Gosh I'm sorry. That really sucks. It's happened to me before so I know how it can make you feel. And boy do I know about those online applications! But speaking as one who has been laid off three times now (or is it four?) there is work to be found out there. Tell everyone you know that you are looking--the perfect job might come from the strangest connection. Best of luck in your search!

Hmmm. I can interpret that as "you're losing five pounds and a size in your jeans", or "you're losing 200 lbs of ugly racist".
Either way, I'll worry about you until we get better news.
Oh no! Sorry to hear that, friend.
Never good news, hope your search is short and fruitful.
I do not understand the term that you are "downsized". Hope you still have the money that your mom left especially for you.

So sorry to hear this. If karma is real, you've earned a big break.
