Take this job, and ...

Yes, it's true.  After giving it the ol' college try for over a year at a job where I was miserable every day, I'm movin' on!

I've accepted a job with the county in which I live, and am about to embark on a career as a civil servant. Who'd a thunk it?

And in OTHER career news, I found out today that the boss at my OLD old job passed away a few days ago.  Lots of conflicting thoughts about THAT.

So!   Finishing out my time at the current job, doing paperwork for the upcoming job, and on the homefront all is well.  Meet the current fosters:

I've also discovered the joys of backyard campfires:

And in general, life just keeps chugging along.  :)  How are all of YOU doing?

Congrats on the new job - hopefully it will end up being a great fit!

When I was just out of college, I ended up getting a job with the federal government in Canada - and in my training week, I met a woman who had just turned 60 and was thrilled to get a full time job with the feds - she had figured out that she could work for the next 5 years and get a full pension and benefits. It always seemed to me to be a fabulous plan - and I need to keep that in mind for the future!

Good for you! I once had a job that had paid my relocation, so I had to stay there for a year, but I actually counted the days for a while. Hope the new job makes you happier!!

Yes!! Working for the county is a great idea. Can you say what you will be doing?

I'll be a secretary, providing administrative support to six lawyers and four coroners. Can't wait!

Heck, that sounds exciting! And speaking of coroners, I doubt that your readers have conflicting thoughts about the demise of your former boss...……..

PS...….I forget: Can we mention what's on the blog when we post on your FB page? I already took one thing down PRONTO when I wondered about that...…….Ginny

Hey Ginny (James P), I am VERY excited to be working with coroners - seriously. haha. The stuff you see on the FB page is what I post to "public", i.e., the stuff that anybody, on or off facebook, can see - mostly photos of the fosters. I do post more stuff, including career-related stuff, political stuff, etc., but that's mostly posted to "friends", i.e. people who friend me on facebook. I know you said before that you didn't want to friend me bc you use your husband's account, which is fine!, but it does limit what you see. It's okay to mention the blog on my public facebook posts (the ones that you're able to see without friending me), as long as you don't post a link to the blog, bc I try to keep my "public" life and my "private" life separate, at least as far as anyone can these days :)

and as always, anybody who does want to friend me on FB can email me (contact info at left of page) to get my FB contact info.

good for you for letting go of something that wasn't working for you. I hope the new job is much better

Are ya there yet??? At the new job???

I'm there! Finished up my first week on Friday, and so far it's a WORLD of difference from the last job. Friendly people, relaxed pace - it's going great! I mean, it's hard to walk into a new job yet again, and I feel like I have PTSD from that last job, and it's going to take me a while to decompress, but I'm confident that this position is a much better fit for me. :)
