Everybody's got a few great stories. Tales about something outrageous that happened to them, or someone famous they met, or that time in elementary school when they made the national news.
A friend of mine calls them "dining out" stories - Anecdotes so entertaining that people will take you out to dinner in order to hear them.
For me, it's growing up in a (possibly) (probably) haunted house. See also: The times I've mowed over yellowjacket nests. Oh, and the racoon-in-the-bedroom story is always good for a few laughs.
